Music

Music has been a part of my life since early childhood. My mother played piano since I can remember and, since middle school, I have played the trumpet. In late high school, I picked up the French Horn. And then, with the COVID lockdown, I picked up learning the oboe.

Alan C Pope High School – 1994

Throughout my tenure at Pope High school in Marietta, Georgia, I was in symphonic, concert, marching and Jazz bands. It’s hard to describe just how influential these years were, and how much music held a role in learning the ropes of life.
Throughout these years, I took lessons with the Larry Black, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. At that time, Leather Specialties was a side hustle in the space above Larry’s garage. Nowadays, it’s a company that is imitated by others.

Atlanta Community Symphony Orchestra – 2001

Despite not having played throughout most of college, once I established a “day job”, I came back to music. In 2001, I played french horn for the ACSO.

Aurora Symphony Orchestra – 2019
As of about 2019, my son James and I are both honored to play in the Aurora Symphony Orchestra. During this time of life, practicing trumpet at home, daily is a must. The music is no joke!
By late 2020, I joined the board of directors and was drafted as Treasurer of the group.
